3D-printed splint

A 3D-printed wrist splint for the first visit

The ONE Splint is a 3D-printed splint for the wrist, ready-made in three sizes. The clinic applies it at the first visit, for the first days while the swelling goes down, until the patient's custom 3D-printed cast arrives.

What it is

What is a 3D-printed splint?

A splint holds an injured limb in place. A 3D-printed splint is produced on a 3D printer rather than molded by hand at the clinic.

Some 3D-printed splints are designed for one patient from a scan. Others, like the ONE Splint, are off-the-shelf: printed in advance in standard sizes, so the clinic has one ready the moment a patient walks in.

The ONE Splint

The ONE Splint: a 3D-printed wrist splint, ready on the shelf

The ONE Splint is a temporary volar wrist splint, 3D printed and ready-made in three sizes. The clinic team picks the size that fits and applies it at the first visit.

It is meant for the first days after the injury, while the swelling goes down. During that visit the team also scans the limb, so the patient's custom cast can be designed and printed and then replace the splint.

The ONE Splint is registered with the Israel Ministry of Health Medical Devices Division (AMAR) and listed with the U.S. FDA. Gero3D operates a quality management system under ISO 13485:2016, certified by the Standards Institution of Israel (certificate 1123048).

The workflow

From splint to custom cast in 3 days

The splint covers the first days. The scan taken at the same visit starts the custom cast that replaces it.

  1. 01

    Splint

At the first visit, the patient gets a ONE Splint in the right size.

  2. 02

    Scan

The limb is scanned with the Gero app on an iPad in under two minutes, accurate to the millimeter.

  3. 03

    Design and print

The software designs the custom cast automatically in about 40 seconds, instead of about 45 minutes by hand, and the production network prints it.

  4. 04

    Cast

The cast arrives at the clinic within 3 days and replaces the temporary splint.
